Between 1747 and 1749 Scott built the Surgeon’s Theatre at the Old Bailey. ‘This was a handsome building adjoining the Sessions House, and was ornamented with ionic pilasters and a double flight of steps to the front door. It was to this theatre that the bodies of executed criminals were brought to be anatomatised’ (Archives, Barber-Surgeons’ Company in GPC).
