Biographical Details
Described by Dossie as an ornamental carver, he was a son of Thomas Scott II, who became free of his father in 1758, having duly served his time. He won a number of premiums from the Society of Arts as a young man and was ‘under nineteen and a pupil of Mr. Cuenot’ when he received his first, in 1760 (2). In 1764 he was described as resident ‘at Mr Scott’s in Christ’s Hospital’. Later that year he moved to High Holborn. He exhibited at the Free Society, 1761-1762.
