Biographical Details
A son of Thomas Scott II, he became free of the Masons’ Company by patrimony in January 1743. Three years later he was working as a mason at the Hampstead house of Christopher Arnold, one of the partners in Hoare’s Bank and a payment of £36 for unidentified work is recorded in the partnership ledger. In 1748 Scott provided the monument to John Nichol, father of the Marchioness of Carnarvon (1). In 1762 he took his son Edward as an apprentice.
