Biographical Details
A modeller, he exhibited at the Free Society from 1782 from 44 Houndsditch. When he exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1788 he gave his address as Lyceum, Strand. He was presumably the Mr Silvester who took over the business of Pingo, who was rendered inactive by serious illness in 1800. Pingo’s wife, Theodosia, told Wedgwood that Silvester’s ‘knowledge and diligence are well known’ (Wedgwood/Pingo, L1/24, Theodosia Pingo to Wedgwood and Co, Feb 1800).
