Biographical Details
He was mason to the Skinners’ Company, 1801-4, and apparently died before 1808, since in that year a Mary Simpson of the same address, who was presumably his widow, was paid for repairs to the Fishmongers’ Hall. Simpson’s two signed monuments ‘are pleasant and well-carved works’ (Gunnis 1968, 352).
