Biographical Details
James Simpson was employed as a marble carver by the Earle family of Kingston-upon-Hull before joining Malone to start the firm which became Hull’s best known building contractors of the mid-Victorian period. White’s Directory listed them at 31 Osborne Street in 1846. They executed many large works in Hull and elsewhere. (Inf. Gerardine Mulcahy).
