Biographical Details
The great Swedish sculptor was an associate of numerous neoclassical British sculptors in Rome during his time there from 1767 to 1778. These included Thomas Banks, Christopher Hewetson, and Joseph Nollekens. His statue of Diomedes was executed for a British patron, Thomas Mansel Talbot, and displayed in the patron’s sculpture gallery in Wales (1).
