Biographical Details
A labourer’s son from Headington, he was apprenticed to Jacob Hayfield, a mason of Oxford, on 15 April 1751. £2 was paid ‘by parent’ and a further £10 came as charity from the University. He was admitted to the liberties of Oxford on 15 January 1762 and died, aged 74, in 1810. He may have been a member of the same family as George and Richard Batchelor, of Buckingham.
