Biographical Details
Known principally for his monument to Robert Pescod at Winchester (1), he was succeeded by his son, Thomas Leversuch. From 1709-15 he was one of the masons working for William Townesend on the chapel and kitchen at the Queen’s College, Oxford. In 1719 a Richard Leaverett or Leveret received payments for work at the college. A large altar tomb at Bishops Waltham is signed ‘W. Russell invenit, Leversuch, Winton, fecit’ (3). At St John’s, Winchester is a tablet to a Richard Leversuch who died in 1759 aged 67. No indication is given of his profession.
