Biographical Details
He received nearly £4,000 for mason’s work at Audley End between 1761 and 1767, a sum which included £855 for building the bridge in 1763 (Essex Records, D/DBY.243 in Gunnis 1968, 240). He was declared bankrupt in 1772, when his address was Lamb’s Conduit Street, Holborn (London Mag, vol 41, 1772, 346).
