Biographical Details
George Lufkin was responsible for a number of funerary tablets. At one time he was in partnership with Slyth and they signed a monument together in 1826 (2).The elder Lufkin was succeeded by his son Henry, who provided the altarpiece for St James, Colchester in 1855 (14) as well as signing a number of tablets in Essex. Gunnis notes that these are ‘all extremely dull’ (Gunnis 1968, 246).
