Biographical Details
Much employed at Windsor Castle under Sir Jeffry Wyattville, following the death of John Slingsby in 1808, he became chief mason and thereafter described himself as ‘statuary and stonemason to His Majesty’. He received £1,042 for building part of the terrace walk at Windsor in 1810 and two years later constructed the royal vaults beneath St George’s Chapel, for which he was paid £3,626 (Gunnis 1968, 44 incorrectly cites PRO AO1/2501). He also signed a few tablets.
