Biographical Details
J Reid of Glasgow carved the sandstone figure of William Wallace that stands in a niche on the façade of the Alliance Building Society office, High Street, Ayr (1). The statue appears to date from the early 19th century and is very probably the work of James Reid, a mason and carver who had a studio in Queen Street, Glasgow from 1803 to 1806.
