Biographical Details
The son of William Spratt of Stepney, Middx, he was apprenticed to Thomas Stayner I on 2 August 1723, becoming free of the Masons’ Company in February 1730. In a list of addresses of London masons, c1740, Spratt is stated as working with ‘Mr. Horsnaile’ (ie Christopher Horsnaile I or II). He signed the fine architectural monument to Mary Dawkins. A William Spratt, possibly his father, was made free by patrimony of the Masons’ Company on 18 August 1703 after serving under another William Spratt.
