Biographical Details
Charles Bossom died on 14 June 1830 aged 42 and was buried in the churchyard of St Giles, Oxford. His tombstone describes him as a sculptor. He was succeeded in the business by his son, who signs tablets commemorating the Joy family and Lord Stavordale (5, 6). The Gentleman’s Magazine for March 1828, which mentions the tablet to Dr Loveday (4), adds that Bossom ‘has given other specimens of his art at New College’.
