Biographical Details
A Dutch carver living in Leith, he may have supplied the architect Sir William Bruce with ‘robust enrichments of festoons, trophies and cornucopia’ especially around the doorway to the west front and on the eastern gate of Bruce’s house in Kinross, Fife. He certainly supplied Bruce with a carved heraldic doorway in 1679 (2). Sant Voort also worked under Bruce’s supervision at the Palace of Holyroodhouse (1).
