Biographical Details
When he exhibited at the Great Exhibition he was described in the Art Journal as ‘a Belgian sculptor settled in London’ (AJ Cat 1851, 72). The writer was impressed with the work which it described as ‘very symmetrical in its proportions, and the drapery is arranged in an easy flowing style, that gives grace and firmness to the principal figure’ (1).
