Biographical Details
The Petrie monument has a large, sparingly framed relief of a woman reclining on a couch, with children at her feet and an allegorical female at her head (1). Gunnis considered it magnificent. It was sent over from Brussels c1790 and erected on the north side of the organ, where it was fixed in position by Thomas Banks. In 1795 Banks provided the companion monument to Margaret Petrie on the south side of the organ.
