Biographical Details
The son of Isaac Walmsley, a mason of Liverpool, he had a considerable business as a builder and statuary mason, owning his own stone and marble quarries at Toxteth Park, near Liverpool, and at Kilkenny in Ireland. In his Memorials of Liverpool, J A Picton says that he was ‘a man of considerable taste’ and records that in 1798 he designed and built handsome new premises in Berry Street for himself (Picton ii, 1875, 280). He also designed the octagonal Unitarian chapel in Paradise Street, 1791. Only one monument is recorded.
