Biographical Details
From 1764 until 1801 he was the master-mason at Canterbury Cathedral, and in 1791 carried out extensive repairs, receiving £271 for his work on ‘Bell Harry’ (Treasurer’s Accounts, Cathedral Library quoted by Gunnis 1968, 430). In the previous year he had been paid £890 for rebuilding St Augustine, Brookland, Kent. He was succeeded by his nephew Thomas Longley.
