Biographical Details
Born on 7 June 1817, he was the son of Nathan Cooper Branwhite, an engraver of Bristol. In 1836 he received a medal from the Society of Arts for a bas-relief (6) and during this period he executed a number of busts of Bristol worthies (1-4). In spite of these early successes his career as a sculptor was shortlived, for he abandoned sculpture for painting late in 1838. He died at his home, Bramford House, Westfield Park, Redland, on 15 February 1880.
