Lord Ashburnham wrote to John Hutton (perhaps his agent) on 24 June 1698 ‘I have received a letter from Wilkinson the stone mason of Ketton wherein he informs me that he has sent up twenty tunn of paving stone to Bedford and that he would have 128= advanced him in money to pay the carriage, which I have consented to gratifye him inn...Wilkinson does allsoe desire that a shedd may be made for his workmen to stand under’ (Ashburnham Letterbook ASH 841, p 409).
