Biographical Details
He was a mason and also, at the time of his death, proprietor of the King’s Head inn in Worcester. Gunnis notes that the contract for the monument to Bishop Lloyd is published in A Tindal Hart’s Life of Lloyd, Bishop of Worcester (p 258). It was to be of marble, to cost £140, to be completed by 1 August 1718, and erected in Fladbury church, Worcs. The bishop’s widow was specific about the composition which was to comprise a half figure of the bishop in an architectural setting. When the church was restored in 1865 the monument was dismembered. It has now however been restored. Pevsner describes it as a standing monument with elaborate flowers and foliage.
