Biographical Details
His address in 1839 was Quattro Fontane, Rome (Graves VIII, 1905-6, 328). Le Grice visited the studio in 1844 and described the works on display with reverent admiration. All were classical subjects. Le Grice listed twelve with their intended destinations. Wolff’s patrons included the King and Crown Prince of Prussia and several Russian aristocrats, but a number of the statues were for English clients (1, 3, 4, 5).
