Biographical Details
The son of William Woodruffe, a yeoman, he was apprenticed to John Woodruffe on 16 January 1672. In the account-book of Sir Charles Kemeys (in Gunnis’s possession in 1966) is a payment to Francis Woodruff for a chimneypiece for an unnamed house (2). Woodruffe signed an architectural monument to Edward Cotton, described by Pevsner as having two black columns, an open scrolling pediment and no figures (1).
