Biographical Details
The son of John Young I and brother of Nicholas Young, he became free of the Masons’ Company by patrimony in 1671. ‘John Young, jun. of St. Anne, Blackfriars, Cit. & Mason, Bachr. ab. 26’ married ‘Alice Harvey, of Edmonton, c. Middlesex, Spr. abt. 20’ on 24 January 1676. She was the daughter of George Harvey, a feltmaker (Armytage 1892 (Lic Vic Gen), vol 34, 1669-1679, 159). Young was warden of the Masons’ Company in 1685 and 1686, upper warden in 1687 and master in 1695, but died during his year of office. In 1695 he was paid £100 for stone work at the Trinity almshouses at Stepney. In January 1696 his widow was paid the balance of £178 owing to him at Stepney.
