Biographical Details
Brough was employed extensively at Greenwich Hospital between 1779 and 1784, working on the Queen Mary east building, the east colonnade, Augusta ward, the Royal Charles staircase, Queen Anne’s Building, the infirmary and the north and south fronts of the hospital. In 1779 he made chimneypieces to replace those destroyed in a fire (1). In 1781 he rebuilt the north colonnade and, three years later, a school near the hospital. In 1791 he made pedestals for Coade stone figures in the vestibule outside the chapel (2) and erected the southwest staircase in the King William building.
