Biographical Details
Brown (or Browne) exhibited works in 1812-13 from Slater Street, Liverpool (1. 3). He may have been related to Richard Rushton Brown, who exhibited from the same address in those years, and he can probably be identified with William Browne of Brownlow Hill, Liverpool, who exhibited a bust of Richard Rushton in 1814 (2). When his widow, Elizabeth, applied to the Artists General Benevolent Institution for financial assistance in 1837, she said that her husband had died of apoplexy on 31 December 1836.
