Biographical Details
The brothers came from Milan and were sent over to England by the Earl-Bishop of Bristol to install terracotta friezes after John Flaxman RA’s Homeric designs round the dome at Ickworth. They appear to have worked in association with the Coade Factory of Lambeth. The Ickworth Papers list payments of £28 7s a month made between 1800 and 1803, plus free lodging, washing and ale. Their assistant received 10/6d a week.
