Biographical Details
As ‘Master Mason to His Majesty’s Office of Ordnance’ and ‘of St. Margaret’s Westminster’, Churchill appears to have built a number of houses in London, which he insured with the Westminster Fire Office. They include three in Great Distaff Lane, 1717, and one in Old Change. Others were in Millbank (insured for £500), Vine Street (two, insured together for £150) and East Greenwich. He was a subscriber to John Dart, Westmonasterium, 1723, and his coat of arms is published in the preface with other subscribers. His daughter was the third wife of Edward Stanton.
